About the Artist

I have always been drawn to figurative subjects and many of my oil paintings are inspired by my travels.  My paintings capture people going about their daily lives using their gestures, expressions, body language and the light to inform.  While painting I imagine their story and try to convey that to the viewer.  People connect with my paintings in different ways, some relate to the setting, because it reminds them of a time or a place while others connect with the figure maybe it reminds them of someone.   I enjoy hearing what people see while viewing my paintings: their stories.  I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  I have been in Southern California since the late eighties and currently reside in San Juan Capistrano. Early in my career I worked as a textile artist, but took some time off to raise my daughters.  With the girls grown I am back painting.   I am a member of Oil Painters of America, The National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and Mission Fine Art Gallery.
